A little dip in the pool

Caleb had his first experience in the pool at Great Uncle Mike's and Great Aunt Janie's house.  It was a nice hot Texas day and the pool wasn't cold but wasn't Texas hot yet but he seemed to really like it.
Sitting on the side of the pool, smiling at Daddy and doesn't know what he is in for :)
In the pool, I think he thought it was the bath and seemed to like it, didn't cry or anything!
Holding the ball in the pool, obviously not too interested in the ball.
Cousin Kelsea in the pool with Caleb!
We put Caleb in the pool lounger and he was quite content....then we decided to make it look like he was in the pool by himself....
Here he is in the pool "by himself" you can see Jared's leg if you look carefully since we really would never leave him in the pool or a float by himself.  Although we did show this to Jared's cousin Ryane and told her we just left him in the pool by himself and she believed us :)
We now have an appropriate bathing suit, swim shirt, hat and swim diaper for him to wear the next time he goes swimming which should be in a few weeks so more swimming pictures to come.

Friends...

Caleb has lots of friends that are a few years older than him!  He also has a lot of friends that are very close to his age and some of them are yet to be born...coming in the next few months!
Here is a picture of one of his friends Brody holding him! He was also practicing for his baby sister that will be here any day.
Another one of his friends that he met this past week is baby Cameron. He was a few weeks early and compared to Caleb even baby Cam at three weeks is such a cute little peanut in comparison to our big baby!
Here are the pics of their first play date but there will be many more to share as baby Cam also lives in our neighborhood!  Congrats Colin and Danielle, he is adorable! I had to post all three pictures since they are too cute not too!!  Hard to believe they are only 6.5 weeks apart in age :)

Many more friend pics to come...

2 Months!

Caleb at 2 Months!!
Weight: 13 lbs and 5 oz (90th percentile)
Height: 23 inches (70th percentile) Head size 16 inches (70th percentile) The nurse practitioner who we saw instead of the Dr. due to the fact that he has been not sleeping as well the last two nights he might be getting ready for a growth spurt!
Eating/Nursing: Caleb is still a great eater and sleeper for that matter!  Since his one month appointment that pediatrician said we could stop waking him up at night so we have now let him sleep!  For the most part his schedule is that he eats every 2-3 hours during the day and then around 8 or 9 we put him down and he usually either wakes up around 11 and nurses or we give him a bottle so that his tummy is full enough to get him to sleep through the night.  Usually he starts to stir around 5 or 6 and then eats around 7 or 8 each morning.  Which is great that he is already sleeping through the night!  I am always hesitant to say this but it has been going on almost a month now so I think we are in a good routine at least for now, I know that things can change :)
Wake time: We are seeing more and more smiling and his personality taking shape during awake time.  He usually is awake for a good hour sometimes two after her eats.  During awake time he loves to play with his toys, lay on his play mat and look up at his cow that has a mirror on it, listen to his lamb that sings old McDonald.  He also loves his vibrating rocker seat and the two toys on that, he can smile and stare at them for quite some time and is starting to grab and reach for things as well.  He also loves his swing since there is a mirror above it and moving animals and staring at the ceiling fan in the living room since it is on a slow mode.  We also do tummy time which he doesn't love but will tolerate.  Reading books isn't always his favorite but we seem to always do that as he is getting tired so we need to put that into the earlier rotation and I think he would like it more.
Napping: We don't have a wonderful schedule for this yet.  I almost feel some days like he is already ready for two long naps.  Some days he still is in the schedule of eating, playing and napping for an hour or so before he eats again but that usually doesn't happen in between each feeding during the day.  He often is awake for 3-4 hours and in that time can nap for about 15 minutes and then later on will take a longer nap.  When he starts to get fussy his favorite thing is to be held facing out and looking at what is going on while falling asleep. He loves to have something to focus on while falling asleep and hates to be held facing your chest. He also loves his mobile in his crib and I think that and his other little toy that clips on the side of the crib will really help him a lot when falling asleep.  We are going to test that out soon!
Night Sleep: For about the last month this has been pretty consistent with sleeping 8-9 hours at night.  He usually eats around 6 or 7 and then we give him a bath and start to wind down for the night.  He then usually falls asleep and sometimes wakes up at 9 or 10 to eat again.  If he doesn't then we usually wake him up just enough to give him a bottle so that he can make it through the night without needing to eat.  He then usually wakes up around 6-8am, he often starts making some noises about an hour or two before he actually wakes up.  We are very happy about this and hope it only continues to get better and more consistent as he gets older!
Skills:He is getting stronger and stronger and holds up his head like a champ!  He is reaching and grabbing for his toys when laying on his back and loves to play with them.  When we talk to him he really pays attention to our voices and likes to look at us.  He also will stick out his tongue at us when we do the same to him.  He is happiest when he has some sort of stimulation usually people keep him entertained the longest.
Language: He is starting to communicate more and more. You can tell especially when talking to him that he is trying to communicate back and he will coo and talk back to you often.  He loves to play with his tongue and his mouth and try to imitate any movement that you make with your mouth from sticking his tongue out to trying to imitate kisses.  He is totally intrigued and you can see the wheels in his little brain spinning as he is trying to figure things out!
Fun Facts:  Caleb went on his first road trip this past month down to Houston.  He was a champ in the car and slept most of the way there with only one long crying stretch on the way back that the pacifier helped to calm. We have figured out that he loves to look around and watch what is going on and if we are in a new environment he will just watch what is going on for long stretches of time. This also wears him out and we get some good naps and nights sleep out of him after!

We are having so much fun already with our little boy and it is so exciting to see how he changes on almost a daily basis although now I can really see why people say it goes by so fast as he already seems like he is so old :)
A few fun pictures of our little guy!!
